// SAMURAI RIBBON //
"This is one of Japan’s traditional crafts “Sanada-Himo”. The technique of weaving came from Tibet to Japan at around the 9th century. In the beginning this ribbon did not have a name until 16th century one of the well known legendary Samurai named “Sanada Yukimura" developed the techniques of weaving the ribbon. He started to use it to wrap his sword handle and decorate his armor, as helmet ornaments and to tie up important things on his waist. You can see clearly that is very tough and strong ribbon. After that people started to call this ribbon “Sanada Himo". The other Samurais copied his style and they also started to make their own patterns for the ribbon as family crests. These became the mark at the time of the collection for their mementos."
